Rabea Edel, born in Bremerhaven, is a novelist and artist photographer.

After studying literature in Siena and Rome with a M.A. degree, she studied at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie Berlin under Sven Marquardt, Prof.Linn Schröder and Sibylle Fendt and graduated in 2021.

Previously her debut novel »The Water We Sleep In« (2006), as well as her second novel »A Dark Moment« (2011) were published by Luchterhand Literaturverlag and received several awards. In spring 2021 her radio play »Seeing Her Ghosts - Ihre Geister Sehen« was premiered at Deutschlandfunk Kultur with Sandra Hüller and awarded with the prestigious ARD Hörspielpreis (Public-Voting-Award). In 2025 her third novel »Portrait of my Mother with Ghosts« will be published by C.H.Beck.

She was editor-in-chief of the art and society magazine "REVUE - Magazine for the Next Society" and Co-Founder of "Urban Journalism" an inter-active salon and networking format.

Being mainly a photographer and writer, but also a text based artist, she does performances, cooperative projects with other artists and organizes events within the cultural sector of Berlin and abroad.

Rabea Edel is member of the »Treffen Junger Autor*innen« -Jury (Berliner Festspiele) and regularly teaches art- and writing workshops.
